Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Jazmin Gurubel
I am Jazmin Gurubel and the Assistant Principal at Gage Middle School.
A little about myself... I grew up in the city of Bell. I attended Corona Ave. Elementary, Nimitz Middle School, and Bell High School. I always knew I wanted to teach, so I pursued a career in education at Cal State Long Beach and received my B.A. in English Education with an emphasis on Language and Linguistics. I went on to teach at South Gate High School for seven years. I taught all grade levels and several courses, but was particularly fond of teaching 9th grade Designated ELD for Long Term English Learners; I developed a passion for ELD, and pursued a role as a Title III Coach serving elementary and secondary schools in the South Gate Community of School. I have been fortunate to see instruction from TK-12; as a result, I have a better understanding of the instructional continuum. The middle school years can be challenging, but I know they are essential to a student’s academic and personal growth. I strongly believe that as educators it is our responsibility to support the “whole child,” so I place a strong value in trauma informed teaching and socioemotional learning.
I look forward to beginning our work together in service of the Huntington Park community and our students. Feel free to reach out to me should you have any questions or need my support.
